About Fire Trails

Fire Trails is a motorcycle-based documentary project exploring the world of first responders – combining travel, adventure, and the journey between each destination.

Riding into different environments, it brings together emergency services, the industries that support them, and the people, landscapes, and communities encountered along the way.

It captures the experience of the journey as much as the work itself, and the moments that reflect the spirit of the open road and a deeper connection to the world around us.

Our Story

Ride. Explore. Ignite.

These aren’t just words – they reflect a journey shaped by experience, reflection, and a growing curiosity that sits beyond the job itself.

Looking back, it’s not just the calls or the years that stand out, but the people, the support, and the unseen roles that have made the journey possible – each with their own story, both personal and professional.

It’s also about stepping into the unknown – seeking adventure, riding beyond what’s familiar, and allowing that journey to broaden my appreciation of the world and ignite new perspective along the way.

Fire trails is about exploring that wider picture.

1

The Beginning

A second-generation firefighter, I started in 1999 as a part-time firefighter with the intention of building a career in the job, following in my father’s footsteps. What began as a starting point became the foundation for more than 25 years in the fire service.

2

The Operations

On reflection, some of the calls we attend serve as a reminder of how valuable each day is. That perspective led me to look beyond my own experience – to see how others do the job and understand the industries that support us.

3

The Open Road

Stepping outside my comfort zone, Fire Trails begins on the motorcycle – seeking adventure and exploring the people and places encountered along the way.

Ride. Explore. Ignite.

4

The Horizon

The journey continues beyond Australia, recognising how first responders are connected across distance, culture, and shared experience.

Creator & host

Fire Trails is created and hosted by Scott, a serving firefighter with just over 25 years’ experience in the job.

While much of that time has been spent on the frontline, this journey is about stepping back and continuing to learn – see how others approach the role, and understanding the people and industries that support it.

It’s driven by curiosity, a respect for the job in all its forms, and a willingness to listen, learn, and embrace the journey along the way.

Values

The principles that guide the journey – shaping how stories are told, how people are approached, and how the road is travelled.

OTHERS FIRST

Fire Trails exists to shine a light on the people behind the work – the ones who serve, support, and often go unseen. Their stories matter more than the one telling them.

A HEART TO LEARN

This journey is grounded in humility – recognising there is always more to learn by listening, observing, and understanding how others approach the role and the responsibility that comes with it.

PURPOSE IN THE JOURNEY

Every mile is intentional. Whether on the road or in conversation, the aim is to bring value, encourage others, and reflect something greater than the journey itself – guided by faith and grounded in service.

Refined BY EXPERIENCE

Shaped by years in the job, but not defined by them – continuing to grow, adapt, and be challenged through new environments, new people, and new perspectives.
